How did you end up becoming Visual Designer for HP?
First of all, I would like to explain my story a little, my name is Álvaro, I am 27 years old and currently living in Barcelona for about 2 years, after living in Mexico, Ireland and Portugal I chose Spain to call home.
I have a bachelors degree in Graphic Design from a university in São Paulo and part of this was done in Mexico.
In approximately 4 years living outside Brazil and working with the most diverse and unimaginable type of work, I decided to return to work with what I really love, Design. I made a lot of mistakes and just could not fit in solidly in the design area until I had the idea to simply start sending a message to the most experienced Recruiters and Designers here in Spain asking if they could give some kind of advice and help me at that stage, one of them helps me and here I am!
We recently launched the London Creative Guide (www.LondonCreativeGuide.com) to help creatives find a job in London.
Tell us about your book Design La Fora!
The idea of “Design lá fora” is to show that it is possible to be designer out of your city, state, and country! It is to give practical tips and prepare the Designers for the business, in my last visit to Brazil I realized a series of lectures in some universities for students of the last year of the Design course and I noticed a great deficient in this subject, how to build an effective portfolio, where to find opportunities, and so on since then I’ve been working on this idea!
What does the future looks like?
Once I say that the idea of all this is to help, I do not want to make it an online course and make money, unfortunately, it’s how everything today becomes. I think of starting to create events but not inside a university as the last time, but something open to all Designers.
