Today we are interviewing one of our first Premium members, a multi-skilled professional with global experience and a wonderful smile!
[The Bridge] Tell us about your background!
Born and raised in Brazil, but I consider myself to be a citizen of the world. My degree is in communications and I have been working as a marketing and events professional with international experience in Mexico, United States and United Kingdom. I am fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English (and can try with Swedish and French as well).
[The Bridge] What is it like working at Yelp ?
Yelp is a great company and it gives its employees a lot of freedom to create and try out. For the past three years, I have been developing my skills in event planning and marketing at the large online review community Yelp, where I currently am São Paulo’s sole manager. Driving Yelp’s community engagement has challenged me to conceptualize, write, and test various strategies while maintaining the brand’s identity. In addition, working with local businesses and writers has developed my ability to negotiate and adapt to various stakeholders’ needs. With the strategies and plans we executed at Yelp we were able to grow the community of both users and business owners through projects such as large-scale charity events like Picadeiro do Yelp, for one-thousand guests and most recently Glow Park for eight-hundred guests.
[The Bridge] What is your biggest achievement at your current job?
My main goal at this role is to grow the Yelp community in my city. We’ve started from zero and now have a lot of users that are passionate about the community and how it can help you anywhere you go. I honestly feel that my contributions and commitment to Yelp’s São Paulo community helped the company achieve its recent big milestone of 100 million reviews throughout our 32 international markets.
[The Bridge] And before that?
Previously, as a Marketing Coordinator, I helped the e-commerce Encomenda Global grow its revenue by 300% in only 4 months when overseeing the digital marketing campaigns and creating content marketing with various blogs to increase visitor acquisitions. In addition to that I have film and TV experience and have worked in projects for HBO Latin America, Televisa and feature films such as “Two Rabbits” in Brazil.
[The Bridge] What are your key skills?
I am self-motivated, committed and determined to achieve goals. I consider myself a quick learner with good organizational and management skills. I enjoy working in both team environment and independently. Have ability to work in low-budget projects and under pressure. But most of all I take a lot of ownership in my projects.
[The Bridge] Where would you work next?
One day I would love to work in a company or organization that gives back to the world and aims to leave a legacy for future generations through conscious marketing. A good example is TOMS shoes that promotes the idea of donating a pair of shoes to someone in need for every pair bought by a regular customer. Or an organization like The Lego Foundation that promotes change through learning experiences based in games and playing.
